Let The Modifications Commence
April 2006

After spending March getting the Cavalier through it's MOT it was time to turn attention to the Impreza in April.

With the car in the garage the inlet manifold was whipped off and the parts swapped onto a freshly painted one (see November 2005). I mutiliated a spare breather NRV to house an air temperature sender, routed the breather pipes to atmosphere and with the manifold bolted back down fitted the fuel rails.

As i don't have any major engine modifications planned just yet i chose to design my own fuel distribution block which uses the OEM regulator. This also lets me run the fuel through the rails in parallel theoretically allowing cylinder #3 to run cooler.

After mouting the temperature display and fitting the Defi gauges from the last car it was time to start it! Pleasingly the car fired up first time and ran brilliantly. The AFR's were later checked out courtesy of Russ at Wallace Performance and were found to be spot on.
