The main modification this month was the installation of a DIY knock display kit. Similar to the Link Knocklink the Detalarm uses five LEDs to display engine knock in a bar graph format. The main attraction of using this kit was the fact it was available in DIY form for less than half the price of a Knocklink. Given that i was going to extend and remote-mount the LEDs anyway i thought i may as well go for a DIY kit rather than a more expensive pre-assembled one.

Given that this was my first serious soldering exercise i was delighted to find the unit worked perfectly first time. Thanks go to ScoobyNet member Roojai for supplying the kit and offering technical advice where required.

Also this month i took the opportunity to have my fuel distribution block anodised and while the car was off the road changed the swept alloy fittings on the fuel rails for neater compact ones. I rate these much more highly than the swept fittings as they allow the hoses to be routed more neatly in a crowded standard engine bay. I also completed the number plate transfer and treated myself to a new Ipod compatible Alpine stereo.
