Exhausted
February 2007

February began with the car passing its MOT. To celebrate the fact it doesn't need to be cat'd for the next 12 months i set about trying to sort a nice exhaust for it.

I had decided on either a Hayward & Scott or Roger Clark Motorsport 3" system so when a H&S 3" centre and backbox came up on ScoobyNet i grabbed it. Luckily a few days later a 3" downpipe came up so i had that too! Unfortunately when the centre arrived it was found to have taken a fair whack, narrowing the diameter at one point to 2.5 inches. This coupled with the fact the downpipe has a sleeve-joint where the centre has flange sealed its fate and a new centre was ordered from H&S.

As the H&S downpipe only has one lambda boss i bought a couple of spare bosses and plugs to have welded in prior to fitting. This will allow me to install a wideband lambda sensor.

Following the MOT success i also splashed out on a Greenline order. Along with a Cusco Brake Cylinder Stopper (BCS), Lower Brace & HKB Steering Wheel Boss i've reserved myself an Apex'i Power FC. Fitting the BCS went well and when it came to testing i was surprised just how effective it is. It's really helped me get the best of the APs and i'd recommend this to anyone fitting a big brake kit to their Classic Impreza.

The engine bay is now also looking a little tidier thanks to PPS for powder coating a few bits in a nice matt black finish.
