Ten Years Younger
March 2009

After a bit of a lull through the beginning of 2009 in March i finally found the motivation to fit my MY99/00 specification front bumper. Unfortunately Myleene Klass wasn't available to get involved in this particular facelift! Special thanks to James Braid for the orange wedges and to Llennell for the superb fog cover decals. If anyone has a MY99/00-spec front grill they'd like to sell please get in touch. :-)

As well as the bumper i decided to try and pick off another niggle this month. Ever since fitting my custom oil-separator i've found the fumes vented through the mini-K&N filter get into the car awfully easily. This didn't bother me too much until i had to use the car to commute to work in for a few days. Normally i tend to keep the heater fan off but this was terribly inconvenient in mid-winter! The outcome being i arrived at work looking smart but smelling like an engine bay! Hence i have now routed a hose from the vent and tied it off beside the gearbox. It doesn't look as tidy but i suppose function must take precedent over form every now and then.

Still trying to 'clear my desk' of annoying jobs i decided to try and mount the fire extinguisher i bought in May (!!) last year. I designed a bracket to bolt between the braces normally used for the spare wheel cover. Thanks to Poseidon Engineering for cutting this on their water-jet machine. I plan to stick some foam to the boot floor beneath the extinguisher to ease the vertical load on the brackets. I hope i'll never need to use it but at least if i ever do it will be more use in the boot of the car than sat in the corner of my office!

Aprils job list has already started to be compiled too. One of my aluminium wheel nuts decided to take half a rear wheel stud with it when it came out. So i have a new rear stud to fit as well as a rear bumper, rear number plate light and hopefully some shiney new Whiteline parts!
